Ali is a shooting PD and video journalist who spent years working as camera operator and editor for BBC Newsgathering in Asia. Ali has filmed for the BBC in Hong Kong, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Taiwan. She has also filmed and produced videos in the UK, France, the USA and Indonesia.

Ali worked as a news correspondent for Al Jazeera in Myanmar throughout the 2020 elections and 2021 coup. She also reports for the Al Jazeera current affairs strand 101 East, and has made numerous live TV appearances over the years.
